BANJO DAN TO APPEAR AT LINCOLN STREET CENTER
Featuring great bluegrass from the heart of Vermont, one of New England’s most exciting acoustic bands, Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys, is coming to Rockland. The group will present a concert of original and traditional bluegrass music at the Lincoln Street Center for Arts and Education on Thursday, July 19.
The Plowboys, who have entertained throughout the Northeast and have several overseas tours to their credit, have been a top draw at New England venues since the 1970s. Their show, beginning at 7:30 PM, will feature finely-crafted originals, along with blazing instrumental showpieces, old and new country and bluegrass songs, and some fine gospel quartets.
Bluegrass music has grown tremendously in popularity over the past few years, fueled by the “O Brother” phenomenon and a new appreciation of authentic “roots” music. The Plowboys, with ten full-length albums to their credit, remain in the forefront of this movement. Their energy and drive, warmth and humor, continue to engage audiences wherever they play. Soaring harmonies, soulful lead vocals, sparkling instrumental solos and spontaneous humor are hallmarks of their performances. Simply put, Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys are poised to deliver one of the best bluegrass shows you’re likely to hear in these parts.
As Rockland’s focal point for the arts, the Lincoln Street Center sponsors a rich array of programs including theatre, concerts, poetry readings, music education, workshops and summer camps. Located at 24 Lincoln Street, the Center is pleased to invite residents and visitors alike to an evening of fun and great family entertainment with Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys.
Tickets are just $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors, available in advance at Breakwater Bookland, and Rock City Books and Coffee in Rockland, as well as Zoots Coffee and HAV2 in Camden, or at the door. Additional information may be found at www.lincolnstreetcenter.org.
