The Artists of LSC

Several Artists make Lincoln Street Center their base in Rockland, Maine. Austin Smith, Hugh Lane, Ryan Mahoney, Gretchen Mahoney, Catinka Knoth, Claire Perry, Diane Hebert, Steve Roberts, Robert Colburn, James Lawrence, Martha Bracy, Clarity, Patti Garson, George Sayre, and Mike Dworkin. New Members joining December 2010 are Matthew Schreiber, and Jill Carter.

Pottery Studio Members include: Ann McClellan and Fred Palsgrove.

The current exhibition Diverse Approaches to Landscape in Sizes Small to XX Large (How Big is Your Living Room?) will be on view through December 2009. Works of Studio Members as well as curated shows from local as well as regional artists are presented. The Jean B. Chalmers Art Gallery is located on the top floor of the Center. Gallery hours are 9-1 Monday-Friday. For more information contact: info@lincolnstreetcenter.org.

On site in the building we have a Darkroom, a Clay Arts Studio, a Dance Studio, a gymnasium and an old fashioned Theatre Auditorium. We are located right in the heart of the city of Rockland.

Other things happening at LSC: We offer afterschool classes for kids and teens, summer camp, and adult enrichment courses. The Watershed High School, an independent high school is located here on Lincoln Street. During the Winter RSU 13 Cheering practices are in our Gymnasium and Dance Studio from November through February. Maine Media Workshops use the Center as a location for film and photography classes and projects regularly through the summer.

The Pottery Studios are equipped with kilms, wheels and have several courses for all ages. Life Drawing is held each Monday evening in Studio #22.


   Jean B. Chalmers Gallery  

The Jean B. Chalmers Art Gallery at Lincoln Street Center hosts changing exhibitions.

Recent Exhibitions of Note: 3 Maine Artists August 4-29, Maria Nevelson Sept 5-Oct 14, Ed Moffitt Oct 17-31.

In 2010 "what Does it take to Heal ... What" show.  There will be a short performance piece at the reception ....  by an artist who is also a movement therapist and who will have hanging work as well as a dance-type demonstration about healing and wholeness with possibly some voluntary audience participation ....  ambient live music will be in the ball park of predominantly Moody Blues and Procol Harum inspired pieces .... ( mostly instrumental ) possibility of an organist-vocals ... ( Hammond B-3 ? ) .....show participants...from Belgrade area and Portland...COA cx'd aussie
