3D@LSC 
Afterschool Clay Class for Children
Jan 22-Mar 4 session 1, Mar 18-Apr 29, session 2, 6-week sessions
(no class school vacations)
Instructor: Ann McClellan, Tues 3:30-5pm
Join this group for artistic exploration with clay.  Hand-building and
basic wheel-throwing techniques will be taught.  Ideas will be generated
for both structured time and free clay play.  Wheel time will be shared.
  Skills and vocabulary for clay work will be encouraged for all emerging
artists.  Ages 8-14
Cost $75 per six-week session, Materials $10 Class size 8-10

Wednesday Adult morning clay class "Keepsake Containers"
Instructor: Silvia Leonie Carrier
Wed 9:30-noon (6 sessions) * February sessions begin when 4 are enrolled

This class will focus on hand building three dimensional objects using soft
slabs of clay. We will work with paper templates to create different forms
with unique lids. Feet, handles and other features will be added as well.
Participants will explore a variety of surface treatments, such as creating
textures and using different glazing techniques. A brief demonstration will
be presented during each class. Participants are encouraged to add their
own ideas to their individual projects. This class is designed for adults with
or without any prior clay experience. Cost: $145, Material Fee:$10


Afternoon Clay Class for Children

Wed 1:00-2:30 (6 sessions) * February sessions begin when 4 are enrolled
Children ages 6 years and older will create various two and three dimensional
projects using a variety of hand building techniques such as pinching and
sculpting, coiling and building with clay slabs. We will create two dimensional
objects, such as relief tiles, but also explore the building of three dimensional
objects, such as clay baskets with cutouts and other projects. The complexities
of the projects vary in accordance to the child's age and ability. Cost: $75,
Material Fee: $10

After school Clay Class for Children

Wed 3:30-4:45 (class might start earlier!) (6 sessions) * February sessions
begin when 4 are enrolled
Children ages 6 years and older will create various two and three dimensional

Novel Workshop
Feb 27-Apr 1, Wed. 6-8:30 pm, Instructor: Lee Heffner
If you are just starting to write your novel, or if you are partway into your
draft and find yourself looking for guidance and inspiration, this is the workshop
for you. For those starting out, we'll work at developing the material you'll need
to create and sustain your novel's characters and world.  We'll get you started on
the opening chapters. Join us in a safe and supportive environment.  Class size
is limited to six to ensure that everyone gets the attention needed to take their
work to the next stage.     $90.00, 6 sessions.

Drum Lessons with John Keyser
Ongoing thru May, Mon. by appt.
Lifelong drummer John Keyser offers private beginner and intermediate level
lessons for drums.
Entry-level snare drum rudiments and sight reading.  
$10 per 30 minute lesson Materials for the course: Sticks, practice pad.

Intermediate lesson:
How to approach practice time, equipment set, and tools necessary to play along
with CDs, MP3s, and computer-based loop programs. Dissecting beats and fills,
and their placement in songs. How to develop grooves. Exploration of rock, pop,
and alternation styles ( some entry level jazz, too ).
$20 per 40 minute lesson
Materials for the course: Sticks, own drum set (at home) and other materials to be discussed.

Drama@LSC
Drama for Kids Readers Theatre, Commercials, Monologues and Auditions are all
done in this 8-week program of Storytelling, Character development, Vocal Training
and Body Movement taught with Theatre games and exercises.  Instructed by Valerie
Wells. Healthy snack provided by Hannaford Bros.
Cost: $85 for 8 consecutive sessions. Ongoing thru May, Fri 3:30-5

Acting 101: This class will allow teen and adult students to work on their acting
skills through the use of scene study as well as exercises. Designed for both
beginners and advanced students, actors will learn the fundamentals of breaking
down a role from the inside out. Led by Actors Studio member David Troup
Ongoing, beginning Jan. 24 $85 for 8 consecutive sessions. Thurs 5:30-7

Life Drawing
Ongoing, Mon 6-8:30pm
Drawing the figure is classical training at its essence.  Live model in studio setting,
weekly.
Led by LSC’s artist members. 
$80 includes model fee for 8 sessions. Note: Life Sculpting group is held on

Art Classes with Catinka Knoth
Drawing and watercolor for kids and adults.  We will do a wide range of subject
matter. Bring art supplies; some materials available if needed, for a small fee.

Adults:Tues. 10-Noon, Kids: Wed. 2:30-4pm, Kids: Wed 4:15-5:45pm,

Photo Lab for Kids
January-February Instructor: TBA, March-May Instructor:  Antonia Small,
Wed. 3:30-5pm

For beginners and those continuing, ages 6-11 experiment with disposable
to digital photography and experience darkroom basics in our on-site
darkroom. The emphasis is on creativity and fun in photo art.  The making
of a pinhole camera or cyanotype may also be part of this 8 week program.
Cost: $80, material fee $10

Yoga@LSC
Monday Yoga, Mon. 5:30-6:30pm, Annie Higbee, instructor
Using Iyengar and Vinyasa yoga styles this yoga class uses Speaking
Wisdom to guide students through postures (asanas) and breathing
(pranayama) exercises to raise the heart rate in syncopation with the
breath. The journey completes with a relaxation. While developing
strength and flexibility, yoga brings a sense of well-being and centeredness.
We practice some challenging postures to keep ones' practice on the ever
learning balance of yoga and translates into our every day lives being in
action, emotion, and spirituality.
Appropriate for all levels, taught by Annie Higbee, RYT Yoga Alliance
Certified Yoga Instructor.

$12 class or $50 for 5 class series.

Earth Heart YOGA - Gentle
Instructor: Rachel Nixon, Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, Jan 7- Mar 24

spirit with detailed instruction on all yoga postures and practices. Relaxation,

SHIVASHAKTI School of Yoga offers classes which stretch and strengthen
the body while cultivating a focused mind and a peaceful spirit. We teach an
integral approach to yoga from physical poses and breathing exercises to

ATLANTIC BALLET COMPANY

Petite Ballet Dancers  (3-5 yrs)  Junior Ballet (5-8 yrs) ,  Ballet Level I (8-13 yrs)
Where it all begins! Inspired by the classics, this program introduces classical Ballet,
folk, and character steps to our young dancers. Foot and Arm positions are taught in
1st,2nd, and 3rd  along with por debras movement (head, arms, torso). The Ballet
barre and center exercises include various balances, turns and jumps. Dancers gain
special awareness and direction of movement in this course. New session begins in
January, 2008.

Funky Junior Jazz
Dancing to the downbeat of the latest “Rock” and “Pop” Music, dancers are trained
to isolate the shoulders, hips, and rib cage in Rhythm style while also learning
technique at the barre and in center floor. Dancers enjoy various turns and jumps
in this course.
